Hey guys! really enjoyed this episode. It was nice to hear Elise put in her two cents too. I LOVE "You Me and Everyone Else You Know" and have been wanting to see "The Future" ever since. Leland it seems like your opinion on "Green Hornet" as soured much since your original nitpicket review back in Jan when you and Aaron both seemed fairly on the positive for it. Anyway I would have to agree with your opinion on it now....it sucked.. and so did "Green Lantern". Liked all your top 5's and very much looking forward to seeing the movies in there that I haven't seen yet....GRRRRR So mad that I haven't seen Midnight In Paris yet! Reply to this

Great show! Long time listener, first time commenter. My favorite of the year is called Certified Copy. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but you need to see that movie by the time you do your next show. Its directed by an Iranian named Abbas Kiarostami, and is in English and Italian and maybe some French. Knowing your guys taste, you are going to (hopefully) love it. The trailer made it look like a whimsical romantic comedy, which it so isn't. Plus, Juliette Binoche gives the performance of her career. Other than that, I loved 13 Assassins, and agree with you guys on Midnight in Paris, The Tree of Life and Hanna. I'll have to check out The Future. Keep up the good work! Reply to this

Fantastic show, had a great time listening. I second ejw0422’s comment that you should seek out Certified Copy. Imagine ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’ in the style of a European art house film but applied to relationships rather than art. My favourite movie of the year so far is Almodovar’s new film, ‘The Skin I live In’. Melodramatic body-horror at its best, everything is heightened to such a level of intensity that I felt drunk leaving the cinema. It all feels quite pulpy but they never wink at you. I know it’s not out in the US yet but get on that when it does. I’ve also loved ‘Meek’s Cutoff’, ‘Senna’ and since they only got a UK release in January, ‘Rabbit Hole’ and ‘Animal Kingdom’ are up there too. Your comments about Super compelled me to check it out and to me it’s a pretty great movie. By placing a light, comic, family friendly tone over some horrifying and psychotic behaviour, the film highlights how most Hollywood movies infantilise violence eg. Captain America casually kills a room full of henchmen and doesn’t flinch because they’re all identical bad guys wearing masks. Really love the show, keep it up. Your relaxed, organic style is unmatched by any other movie podcast. Reply to this

Wow, this podcast made me realize just how many movies I'm missing out on. Work does that sometimes--I'm behind on both my movie watching and my podcast listening.
I definitely haven't seen enough good 2011 movies to assemble a best-of-the-year list at this point, but the one I did manage to see that I can unequivocally recommend to film fans is The Tree Life. I'm glad you guys feel the same way I do about it.
Now, I have a lot to catch up on. This podcast definitely gave me a few ideas as to where to start--I think Midnight in Paris will go to the top of my list. Reply to this

Life is like dancing. If we have a big floor, many people will dance. Some will get angry when the rhythm changes. But life is changing all the time.
