Nit Picket Podcast #57, Shutter Island/Revanche

Aaron's 50th episode.  Nit Picket Podcast #57.

Aaron and I speak once a week, about movies and television, for about an hour, over Skype.  We've been known to finish one another's sentences but how well do we really know the eachother?  How well can you ever really know anyone?  That's what we explore each week.  That, and Emily Blunt's side boob.

This week Aaron and I have the fortune to discuss the newest film from filmmaking legend, Martin Scorsese.  We discuss his new psychological thriller starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Ben Kingsley, Shutter Island.  On DVD, we talk about 2009's Oscar nominated Austrian thriller, Revanche (which is available now on Netflix Watch Instantly) and we also squeeze in discussions of The Ricky Gervais Show, How to Make it in America, and The Life and Times of Tim.  Of course, what episode would be complete without our weekly Lost recap?  Thanks for listening.

    Blowjobs.

I would probably choose blowjobs. Call me crazy but I don't really like cheese that much. So yeah, I would pick blowjobs unless it was Charlotte Gainsbourg doing the blowing, then I would choose cheese.

Anyways, I liked the Q&A! I thought it was pretty entertaining and fascinating. You guys should definitely do another Q&A sometime. I'll hopefully be seeing SHUTTER ISLAND and REVANCHE this weekend, so I am glad neither of you really spoiled anything. Oh, and now that I think about it, I would choose Seth Romatelli as well.

      Thanks for weighing in, Alex!

Great show guys! BTW, thanks for the mention! Here's a question idea for the next Q&A: Mac or PC? I personally have and LOVE my MacBook Pro. Off to see THE CRAZIES this weekend. Also, LOVED SHUTTER ISLAND. Can't wait for next week's episode! Well done!

Spoiler alert, I too have a MacBook Pro. I call her Crystal and she has an Iron Man decal on the front. I doubt Nit Picket or Dampercast ever would've existed without mine. Thanks for listening.

I MUST hear you complain about Cop Out.

Devote 45 minutes to it at least. It was that upsetting to me. When you laugh three times in a Kevin Smith directed movie starring Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis...The world is not at peace.

I think you guys use the term: The Wendy and Lucy of ___ at least once every episode. Not complaining though. I'll definitely have to check out Revanche today.

Yeah, the only time I've ever had any amount of fun in the PS3 home is when I was drunk with my friends making the character dance in the bowling alley. It was CLASSIC.

hey guys, good episode(I decided to listed to the Shutter Island review after I see it as I wanted to go in with a clear view-the release date in the UK is pushed forward for some unknown annoying reason)
about the question you asked-as I am a girl I would have to go with cheese lol
By the way,are you seeing A Prophet?I heard that it was released in the US last week, I went to see it a while ago and it's a pretty solid film, it's considered along with The White Ribbon as a favourite for the foreign languege film Oscar. If you do get a chance to see it it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.

    blowjobs (lactose intolerant)

Good podcast! Was I hearing it? (hint: yes) I listen every week, so getting some insight into the men behind the curtain is nice. I have gotten so many good movie suggestions from you two it's crazy. Coming in on episodes in the teens, I was more familiar with Leland from Dampercast, but Aaron is a good foil. Even when agreeing on how you felt about a movie, you both bring different perspectives in your description.

I'm super down with it - keep 'em coming!

Great episode! I felt the same way as Leland did about Shutter Island. The 'twist' or 'revelation' or whatever you want to call it didn't work for me. Although I did like Michelle William's last scene in the film. I thought she was very good in it. Revanche was really good stuff.

I started watching Lost this past summer and I've only seen the first 4 seasons so I unfortunately have to avoid the last twenty minutes of your newer episodes.

Hey guys, Great Podcast. Loved the Q and A, and of course Im still listening. You guys can do no wrong.
I have one question for Aaron (maybe you can answer it on the next Q and A). You said that you were once upon a time not very interested in movies, so what movies made you get obsessed with film.
