Nit Picket Podcast #38, Paranormal Activity/Trick'r Treat/Couples Retreat/I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell

Don't listen alone.  Nit Picket Podcast #38.

This week Aaron and I discuss the newest "found footage" horror film, Paranormal Activity, and whether it truly is the "scariest film ever" as people have been saying.  We also take out time to discuss the new Vince Vaughn comedy, Couples Retreat, the straight-to-DVD horror film, Trick'r Treat, and Aaron begrudgingly reviews the new film based on the Tucker Max memoir, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.  We actually managed not to mention Edward Cullen or The Hills for once.  Go Team Nit Picket!

in the last podcast you guys talked about CW shows that are overlooked and i want you to really take this into consideration before judgement is passed. now vampire diaries is a show that on the outside is really shitty. another vampire fad based show aimed at teenage girls, at least thats what i thought going into it but i gave it a shot anyways. i've watched every episode and i have to say its a fairly good show thats going to be overlooked not by the general audience but of legitimate viewers. people who actually give a shit about film/tv. its darker than i imagined and in one episode they actually poke at twilight when a girl asks him "why he doesn't sparkle in the sun." this is a huge leap and i am in no way saying it will ever be on the same level of interview with a vampire but its much closer to that genre of vampire than it is to the twilight genre of vampire. i think you should stick with it a few episodes overlook the riddiculous name, and then if you hate it rip on it because hearing you guys talk shit on films like transformers 2 is one of the reasons i love listening.

ps. i'm really looking forward to your favorite/scariest horror movies list and your most overlooked films list.

I'll definitely have to check VAMPIRE DIARIES out. Considering BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is one of my all time favorite television shows, I'll definitely give this show a chance.

I'm glad at least ONE person enjoys our TRANSFORMER discussions! We won't stop anytime soon.

      Thanks for listening!

Crossing my testicles in hope that PARANORMAL ACTIVITY comes to theatres here in the UK. What do you think the chances are of that?

I would imagine it will make it's way over to the UK. Steven Spielberg is one of the producers and the movie is now open nation wide here. I'd be surprised if it didn't make the jump overseas!

I usually cringe when someone says the phrase "cult film" but this is one instance that truly deserves the label. It's Ed Wood-esque.

You really liked Pulse? I kind of enjoyed it, it had scary parts but when I thought about the movie as a whole I got so confused that I wasn’t scared anymore. I started the movie off watching alone in the dark and I was scared as hell but then my husband came and sat with me a little half way through and after that I wasn’t scared at all. Maybe I would have liked it more if I watched it all by myself. I ended up asking way to many questions to really enjoy it. In the end I think it had a really strong start that just got a lil wacky towards the end.
